The 24 Works on Paper exhibition will travel across Oklahoma for 16 months and debut in Weatherford, OK on August 20th, 2020. The exhibition travels to communities that may have limited exposure to contemporary art and gives statewide visibility to Oklahoma’s contemporary artists. OVAC will produce a catalog including all selected works. 


Timeline:  

May 1, 2020, 11:59 pm: Deadline for entries. Online submission only.  

May 22, 2020: Notification of accepted works.  

May 26-29, 2020: Delivery of selected works to OVAC.  

August 20, 2020: Exhibition opens in Weatherford.  

August 2020-January 2022: Exhibition tour dates.


Guest Curator: heather ahtone

Currently Senior Curator at the American Indian Cultural Center & Museum, the primary focus of heather's research and writing has been to examine the intersection between tribal knowledge and contemporary art. Working in the Native arts community since 1993, she has curated numerous exhibits, published articles on her research, and continues to seek opportunities to broaden discourse on global contemporary Indigenous arts. In addition, she is committed to serving the arts community of Oklahoma. She is a member of the Chickasaw Nation, descended from the Choctaw Nation and has strong family ties to the Kiowa and Navajo communities.

Eligibility:

Artists must be current residents of Oklahoma. Artists must be OVAC members to apply. Membership benefits include access to OVAC's annual Resource Guide, inclusion in OVAC's online Artist Gallery, discount for Artist Survival Kit (ASK) workshops, entry fees waived for OVAC opportunities, and more.
